SIGNAL launches Program at China’s Northwest University

In late May, SIGNAL travelled to Xi’an to officially launch the newest SIGNAL Israel Studies Program (ISP) and Israel research center in China at Northwest University (NWU) in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province.Northwest-University-ISP-603x288 Keynote speakers at the events celebrating the establishment the ISP and research center included: Israel’s Vice Ambassador, Dana Benevisti; NWU President, Fang Guanghua; SIGNAL advisor, Dr. Oded Eran, who is also Israel’s former ambassador to Jordan and the European Union, and currently a senior researcher at the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) in Tel Aviv; Carice Witte, founder and Executive Director of SIGNAL and ISP Director and Dean of the History Dept., Dr. Wang Xingang. Ms. Witte and Vice Ambassador Benevisiti presented certificates to the winners of the Israel Studies research paper competition.

The new Israel Studies Program and research center will be located in Northwest University’s Institute of Middle Eastern Studies (IMES) and is the seventh Israel Studies Program in China.
