Faculty Training Program (FTP) Fellows in Israel

SIGNAL is pleased to be hosting its 4th annual Faculty Training Program (FTP) in Israel Studies in cooperation with the Israel Studies International Program (ISIP) at the Ben-Gurion University Research Institute for the Study of Israel and Zionism (BGI), located in Sede Boqer. Through the FTP, Chinese faculty from universities where SIGNAL has established Israel Studies Programs receive an unprecedented full semester study program in the field of Israel Studies from some of the world’s leading professors in their fields. The participants also have the opportunity to travel the country and experience the Israeli people and culture first hand.

The FTP Fellows return to their home university well-equipped to teach at the Israel Studies Program (ISP) in their departments. This year the six faculty participants hail from Yunnan University in Kunming, Northwest University in Xi’an, Henan University in Kaifeng, Shihezi University in Xinjiang, the Beijing Language and Culture University, and the China Foreign Affairs University in Beijing.

SIGNAL officially launched the Faculty Training Program in 2011. We are proud to have provided this enrichment study program to 24 faculty members from our ISPs across China. Each year, some of our FTP Fellows are hosted in Israel for an additional two weeks by Yad Vashem, in order to learn about Holocaust education. These two weeks take place prior to the full semester Faculty Training Program at Ben Gurion University.
